We were very touched to learn about this thoughtful note and beautiful poem from Bill Brownridge, a renal patient at Royal Jubilee Hospital! It means so much to members of the BC Renal network to receive messages of thanks such as this one. We have reproduced Bill’s note and poem here (also shown in the photo).
Note from Bill Brownridge:
Dear staff – Renal Unit,
I have long wanted to put into words my thoughts on the work you do. Finally this weekend, I summoned some form of appreciation for the whole staff’s amazing, often unsung caregiving, It’s hard to condense all the emotions I feel when I come to the Jubilee.
I have used a poem to try to express my heartfelt message.

We are the old, the used, the damaged,
We are the flickering flame
The remaining embers of past life.
You are the skill, the intelligence,
The probing mind seeking to aid
Even the losing and lost.
You have the nurturing, the strength,
Stamina and endless patience
Even into the darkest night.
You are the Caregivers.
You keep us alive.
We the old – honour you
And your amazing grace.
We all Love you.
