About Our Research
The BC Renal Network is mandated to:
- Facilitate and conduct quality research studies to inform better care and treatment of patients
- Translate this information into knowledge for other health care practitioners
- Foster local, national, and international research collaborations for knowledge exchange
- Facilitate the provision of training and mentoring of young physicians and scientists
The BC Renal Network actively gathers and uses research in making evidence-informed decisions for health services management and delivery. Following the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement Assessment Guide, we actively pursue activities that acquire, assess, adapt, and apply research to improve and foster capacity and translating research into quality care.
Renal care professionals across BC are engaged in a broad range of local, provincial and international research projects, many in collaboration with BC's educational institutions, including the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Their work is frequently published in peer-reviewed journals.
Renal programs are also committed to ongoing quality improvement (QI), with numerous local and provincial QI initiatives underway at any given time.
