PWR - Improving Kidney Outcomes in Lupus Nephritis

Dr. Brad Rovin

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the clinical and molecular rationale for performing a kidney biopsy earlier in the work-up of lupus nephritis than current guidelines recommend
  2. Extend the rationale for initiating "triple" immunosuppressive therapies for lupus nephritis to structural preservation of kidney parenchyma and flare prevention
  3. Synthesize the available data from cell therapy trials to facilitate an understanding of how tissue-based B cell depletion may provide an explanation for their superior clinical outcomes compared to conventional immunosuppression
