Learning Objectives:
- Understand the clinical and molecular rationale for performing a kidney biopsy earlier in the work-up of lupus nephritis than current guidelines recommend
- Extend the rationale for initiating "triple" immunosuppressive therapies for lupus nephritis to structural preservation of kidney parenchyma and flare prevention
- Synthesize the available data from cell therapy trials to facilitate an understanding of how tissue-based B cell depletion may provide an explanation for their superior clinical outcomes compared to conventional immunosuppression
