All of our interactive e-learning presentations and modules have been updated and are available for use by patients and health care professionals:

  • Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) Patient Training Modules
  • Rural Remote – Performing PD Procedures (for health professionals)
Coming soon: Choosing a Treatment for Kidney Failure – Pediatrics

What was the purpose of the updates?

The purpose was threefold: (1) To make essential updates to outdated content, (2) To create a fresh, modern look for all of the presentations and modules to increase interest and engagement, and (3) To upgrade the technology to make the presentations and modules mobile-friendly and to improve accessibility while fixing bugs and other errors that were occurring with the previous versions.

What benefits could these updated resources offer to health professionals and/or patients?

We worked with an e-learning specialist to ensure that the upgraded presentations resulted in better learning outcomes and knowledge translation. The fresh new look and sound will further engage health care providers and patients during the teaching/learning process, and with more formats to choose from, both patients and health care providers will enjoy easier access to these important educational tools.

What were some of the highlights and challenges of updating these e-learning presentations and modules?

The highlight for me was creating the new look and feel to improve literacy, accessibility and knowledge uptake. Although we couldn't do a full content review due to time restraints, it was rewarding to see how the current material could be transformed by improving the design, updating photos and adding new voiceovers to the presentations. The Peritoneal Dialysis and Kidney Care Clinic group leads were also able to incorporate important feedback from their staff during this process, so it really felt like a team effort. The main challenges we faced were time constraints, and ironing out the bugs that inevitably pop up when working with technology upgrades!
