PROMIS has as an Emergency Planning Module that can support kidney care teams during emergency situations, like wildfires and floods. Key Functions include:

Facility Report - View and edit detailed resource and capacity information. The occupancy data is from the current dialysis schedule for each facility.

Renal Patient List - If a dialysis facility is evacuated, you might need to direct or transport the facility’s active renal patients who are on dialysis, or who have a low eGFR value (20 or lower), to another dialysis facility. Having a list of those patients will help you ensure that they get the renal care they need during the emergency.

EM renal patient lists include key information about each patient, including their address, phone number, primary nephrologist, and eGFR. You can add notes to an Active EM patient list as you manage the emergency. For example, you can record which dialysis facility the patient will go to for care during the emergency and how the patient will get there.

Facility Map Overview - Displays the location of dialysis clinics and hospitals that provide dialysis in BC. An icon represents each of those facilities. The icon indicates whether the facility is currently operating under, at, or over its maximum dialysis capacity (total occupancy).

User Management – The Emergency Planning module has a separate user access model than the core PROMIS application, in order to remove dependencies on PROMIS Support in the event of an emergency. A health authority user designated as a “Primary User” in the Emergency Planning module can grant access to the module to other users who may need to be involved during a specific emergency, and then revoke access once the emergency is over.

Don’t wait until an emergency occurs to learn how to use the Emergency Planning module!

If you think this is something that might be helpful in your role in the event of an emergency situation in your health authority, we encourage you to sign-up for training, so you’re prepared. e-Learning and Instructor Led Training is available. You can register for any of our regularly scheduled courses via LearningHub https://learninghub.phsa.ca/
